Andy Carrington
Andy Carrington is a Freelance Poet/Writer from Pontefract, West Yorkshire, currently residing in Bradford. He was educated at Wakefield College and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where he gained a 2.1 in English Literature and Creative Writing, and has since been the feature of various websites and monthly/quarterly literary magazines.
Specialising primarily in prosaic poetry, with recurring themes such as anti-racism/anti- fascism, sexual obsession and illness, to date he has published three collections of poetry and five digital books independently, and had his work included in two poetry anthologies -- one of which was compiled to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract.
Besides poetry, his passion for writing ranges as widely as reviews and articles on the subjects of Hip-Hop culture and action films of the ‘80s and ‘90s. He also helps counteract Internet racism (a form of cyberbullying) on social networking sites such as Facebook, regularly keeping notes on his blog; and offers online support and advice for sufferers of Crohn's Disease, since been diagnosed with the illness, himself, in 2008.
